WHAT IS ART THERAPY?
Art therapy is an integrative psychotherapy that involves the use of art making in a session. You do not need to have any prior experience in art making, nor do you need to be an artist. Art therapy can be a useful form of expression when words don't quite add up or thoroughly express what we are feeling. I explain it to my clients as another tool in the toolbox to express yourself, gain insight, and process your emotions on a non-verbal level.
Sometimes we might make art in a session, and sometimes we won't. Both are completely valid. I follow your lead and your level of comfort.
